Mizan

Price in dollars. Sell in lira. Even with the internet down.

Mizan is a till for Syrian shops, on an Android phone or a Windows or Linux computer: it sells without internet, works out the bill in lira at the exchange rate, and keeps the daftar, the book of what customers owe.

Every new shop gets seven days of the Economic plan free, with nothing paid up front.

The Mizan web dashboard: today’s sales, sales by the hour, and open shifts across the branches.
The selling screen in the Mizan phone app: a cart with items in it, and the total in lira and in dollars.
  • Sells without internet for up to 30 days
  • The price in dollars, the bill in lira
  • A debt ledger for each customer, line by line

The rate moves, and your prices are not rewritten

Your prices are kept in dollars. The Mizan server fetches the market rate every fifteen minutes, every lira price is worked out from it, and each sale keeps the rate it was rung at. Change the rate in the bill and watch the lira follow.

Internet down? Selling does not wait

Every sale is kept, encrypted, on the phone and goes up by itself when the line is back. Cut the internet in the example and sell, then bring it back.

  • The phone sells for up to 30 days without reaching the server, and counts down in the last week.
  • A sale that arrives twice is counted once.
  • Selling on credit and payments work offline too.

Every sale is on the server

The paper daftar, with no crossing out and no disputes

Every credit sale and every payment is a line kept on the customer’s account, and the balance is the sum of the lines. Nobody needs to remember.

  • Bring a customer’s debt over from the paper daftar when you add them, as the first movement on their account.
  • A credit limit for each customer: if a sale would take them past it, the phone refuses it before the goods leave.
  • Send them a reminder of what they owe, or their statement, from the shop’s own WhatsApp to their number.
  • Economic Debt ageing: who owes you, and for how long.

Questions every shopkeeper asks

All the questions
What happens if the internet is down for days?

The phone keeps selling for up to 30 days without reaching the server, and counts down in the last week. Every sale is kept on the phone and goes up when the connection is back. If 48 hours pass with no confirmed exchange rate, checkout stops until a new rate arrives, or until someone on the phone types one in for it.

Do I need a computer or special hardware?

No. An Android phone is enough, and a barcode scanner is optional. Every plan has a till on a computer for those who want one, and the Economic dashboard opens in any browser.

What happens when the seven days are over?

You choose Basic or Economic and pay. If you do not subscribe, the app and the dashboard close; nothing is deleted, and everything opens again as it was once we confirm your payment.

Can I pay in lira?

Yes. The price is in dollars, and you can pay in lira at the exchange rate. Give the amount and the currency when you send the reference.
